On March 6th I had the honor of running a pop-up workshop hosted by Rebel Supply as a part of Teen Arts NJ's 2026 Youth Arts Initiative* in Asbury Park. I had a blast teaching the local students no-sew techniques to re-imagine and repurpose materials that we all likely already have on hand at home!
There are an infinite number of ways to upcycle your old t-shirts into something new without ever picking up a needle and thread (or a sewing machine, for that matter). From simple cuts and knots to the creation of raw materials to use in your other crafting endeavors-- there's something to keep the interest of everyone. Keep reading to gather inspiration for your next upcycling project--
Supplies you'll need
Old t-shirt(s) that you are ready to part with
Fabric scissors
A ruler (I prefer a plastic, see-through sewing ruler, but any ruler will do)
